Best practices in mechatronics engineering projects

Abstract

This paper shows a synthesis of the best practices in mechatronic engineering projects that the author has known for just over 20 years of professional experience. These practices show relevant elements on the achievement of technological cutting projects. The document refers to professional aspects to be taken into account in relation to dealing with the client. The general evolution of a mechatronic engineering project is described, highlighting some project conditions that make it “unique”. It also refers to some types of feasibility studies, this with the purpose that the reader values perspectives that can help achieve the success of the project. The document shows how to evaluate alternative solutions to engineering problems presented by the project, as well as how to estimate times and costs as fundamental elements of any quote. In the last part of the work, the methodology for the development of mechatronic projects is presented, as a form of professional work of mechatronic engineering to create technology.
