Abstract

A review was made of studies on the determinants that affect the health of the vulnerable population in Latin America, in order to identify and perform a hierarchy of these determinants as a contribution in the search for healthy environments within the framework of sustainable development in the region. . From a selection of 60 documents, four categories of analysis were established; with what we came to determine that the main determinants that affect health are: social (100%), economic (91.7%), health (91.7%) and environmental (83.3%). Regarding the objective of each study, it was established that they focused mainly on socioeconomic factors (23.3%), environmental context (18.3%), environmental policy (10%) and social factors (10%). Regarding the study object, it was defined that the main groups that are affected in health by a diversity of factors are: population at risk (31.7%), population in general (26.7%), children (20%) ) and elderly (10%). Finally, 3 methodological approaches were determined: qualitative (75%), quantitative (18.3%) and mixed (6.7%).
