Abstract
Functional foods are those foods that are eaten regularly, either naturally or processed, which in addition to providing benefits in human nutrition are able to prevent some diseases. Nowadays, consumers are more demanding in terms of feeding, and seek products that not only provide the energy needed for their daily activities, but possess compounds that contribute to their nutrition and improvement of their the physical and mental status. In this review certain basic concepts on functional foods are mentioned and some foods that are included in this group for its nutritional properties.Downloads
